In Palestine, UN Women partnered with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Palestinian Ministry of Women’s Affairs to bring the Gazan storytelling performance “Sound of Ah” to Ramallah. This was the first performance of the show outside of Gaza. The performance tells the story of 8 Gazan women who stayed in the sheltyers of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The stories explore what it means to struggle for survival in war-time and facing oppression in family and community.

“We managed to show that, despite all the difficulties of Gaza life, Ghazan women are strong and can speak to the world as equals,” said Rana Abu Maghasib, one of the performers.
